I can’t agree more with you! Frederic is building a bridge between anglophones and les Québécois. As an Ontarian desirous of mastering le français québécois, I’m extremely grateful to Frederic. Ontario politicians have practically banned Quebecois teachers from teaching le français québécois at Ontario institutions and schools making Québec even more segregated from the anglophone world. We’re thousands miles away from France yet local politicians have been forcing us to learn Parisian French which is ridiculous because Quebec is 100 meters away from Ottawa. In Ottawa a Québécois teacher can’t find a job in school because of their accent and that’s so sad and wrong!! I’m learning French exclusively from Québécois because as a Canadian my second language is le français québécois NOT le français parisien. I speak French with a Quebec accent and am very proud of it! ❤️ Vive l’Québec libre pis fier!!
It’s one thing to study French. It’s another to be able to communicate with friends and family who are from Montreal, Quebec, and environs. Frederic is devoted to making Quebecois accessible. It is an invaluable service, and his book will become standard reading for those hopping to integrate into the Quebec francophone world. Bravo!
