Quebec French for Beginners

It’s nice to have a book.

I mean, when something interests you, when you want to learn something… it’s nice to have a book!

Especially if it’s a language you’re learning.

There are a lot of great books on learning French, but not much on Quebec French.

That’s why for years, I couldn’t recommend anything to my students.

There are some books on Québécois expressions, but they are usually written for French people (from France) or other francophones curious about what they call “our accent.”

For example, this one:

These books all contain very quaint expressions that nobody uses anymore! They also don’t explain in which context each word needs to be used.

Then… everything is in French

Some books are meant for learners, but they are in French.

I decided to do something different.

I wanted a book that doesn’t just teach you cute expressions, but explains the mechanics of our language.

And this is hard for learners to grasp when all of the explaining is done in French.

So I decided to use a skill I have developed for years — writing in English — to teach what I know best and what I’ve spent the last few years doing: Quebec French!

The book is called Quebec French for Beginners.

In reality, it’s meant for learners of all levels. But the fact that it’s in English means anybody, at any level, can read it.

I’m aiming at a launch for the Saint-Jean Baptiste, on June 24th, exclusively on Kickstarter!
